About this Costume

While it looks simple, this costume had a lot of experiments in it. I played with textures in attempt to up my knowledge in sewing, which I believe I accomplished to the extent I had hoped.
The little coat was made with a quilted cotton I found and wanted to play with, it worked pretty well for what I was going for. I needed a ribbed knit for the collar and the bottom of it, but the only ribbed knit I could find locally was an off white which fell to shreds after I tried to bleach it. Thus, this was also my first time ordering fabric online. Loved it and will be doing this again!
The dress consists of two layers of knit, each pattern piece was cut once from each fabric and sewn together before I constructed the actual dress. The top layer, while giving the texture I wanted, is really see-through. (Yikes!) The opaque black knit underneath was an absolute must!!! I stitched the pattern pieces together before actually sewing the dress together, then made a wide turtle neck to help hold up the collar of the coat.
- Personal Thoughts:
- Look at the sweet, adorable young girl that I am portraying right now. I saw a picture of her and as soon as I learned it was the same Haman that drops colonies and controls little children, I said "What the hell happened to her?!" I just had to make this, even though I knew full well nobody would know who I was supposed to be.
