Construction Details:

So this costume was a beastly undertaking. I have learned a lot of new techniques with it. As well as going through a lot of trial and error. The costume itself is made of a material called Kona Cotton. And I would deffinatly never reccomend that anyone ever use it, its wrinkles extremely easy and is nearly impossible to iron out. Though for this costume the wrinkled look makes it looked a bit more aged so that works, I guess. Also getting the colors just right was a pain. With the exception of the light green and hounds tooth I tint dyed every piece of fabric seen here to give it the same feel as seen on cover 13. All in total I believe there is about 40 yards of fabric here. What can I say I have the hieght of an amazon, and had to compensate for the extra hieght of the heels I wear with this outfit. One of my favorite pieces of this outfit is the corset, besides the fact that I hated hand stitching a majority of it. The corset is made with a thick canvas base, the purple fabric is the kona cotton, the trim is a dyed bias tape, and the black is a synthetic suede. The buckles are all hand made as well. I haven't made buckles in years and I must say I was glad to know I hadn't forgotten how. Though sadly there is no boning, so that means its just a show corset, I will however be wearing a really one underneath to help me with my posture.
