About this Costume
- Construction Details:
-
This costume basically comes down to two things, Lots of Fabric, and 20 hours of embroidery and beading. Otherwise it was easy. I used about 14 yards of gold brocade, 12 yards of satin, 4 yards of lining! The cape alone is 8 yards of brocade and 8 yds satin lining! It weighs about 15 pounds. The embroidery was done on an embroidery machine but it still took 9 hours to complete! There are both red and clear swarovski crystals and seed beads on the neckline and the cape. There is also a piping of tiny pearls along the edge of the cape, neckline, and belt. I made the flowers on the belt but I bought the rest of the jewelry. I draped the pattern myself, but its a fairly straight forward pattern. The cape is pretty cool though, the pattern is essentially a full circle with a rounded V shape cut out for the neckline. This was actually how they did it in the movie too. I used a showgirl wig, but cut out about half of the fullness of the wig from underneath.
- Personal Thoughts:
- Probably my favorite costume right now. :D
