Construction Details:

Chas has been wanting to do these costumes for seriously years and put together this amazing group for YCon 2009. Seriously, she did all the amazing work - organizing people/date/time, getting fabric & sending it out, even coordinating sizes of armbands/etc. She even did several of the wigs, including mine! (So much love and thanks, bro!) I made three of the coats for this group, mine, Chas's (Aldred van Envrio), and Karu's (Lydi). They turned out to be a bit more work than expected! These coats have back and side slits, zippers, cuffs, contrasting collars (that I patterned), 6 belts/buckles, trim, and a contrasting inset (that I wasn't cool enough to do as an actual inset - I made them overlays instead. Some nice topstitching later and bam.) Also, they're fully lined. It was pretty neat to make them, I think mostly because the three of us did them in a group (I got minions!) and they turned out REALLY nice. So even when I had to redo the belts, even when it seemed like it was taking for ever, I could just look over and think, "But man, are these some flippin' beautiful coats."
