About this Costume
Construction Details:
Over all, the making of this costume was very smooth. I used twill for the jacket, pleather for the bodice and socks, and found white thigh highs and a white turtle neck. The shoes were a great find as well, I didn't think high heeled mary janes would be that easy to get. Originally I had wanted to use gold stretch PVC, but I opted for the same gold fabric Monty had used on his Char, as I liked how it looked, and it was easier to deal with (despite the annoying fraying.) For once, bias tape was my friend as I used it to trim the pleather parts, having learned my lesson with Yoko on hemming pleather.
Personal Thoughts:
Last year, I was introduced to Char's Deleted Affair, and totally fell in love with it. This costume was one of the ones I wanted to do more than anything, the design just really appealed to me. She wears it in volume 7, after be coming frustrated and wanting to show Char that she is no longer a child. So she cuts her hair, and puts on this ridiculously sexy little outfit, still retaining her childish charm with the slightly floppy thigh highs/knee socks. If this was Haman's "I'm not a child anymore!" outfit, this was my "Fuck being an adult and getting married!" outfit. My wedding is in a few weeks and the details of it have been driving me utterly insane. To help distract myself, I started to work on this with a very "I'm doing this to have fun" attitude. I didn't stress over tiny things, I didn't let myself get caught up in the cosplay craziness...I just MADE it. So yeah. It's not perfect, then again, none of my stuff is. But I had SO much fun making it and wearing it that I don't care. I may not be nearly as sexy and cute as Haman in CDA (who is?! She's just made of adorableness!) but it was still a great feeling to get this costume done.
