About this Costume
- Construction Details:
-
The jacket is made of a crisp cotton-blend fabric. I based the jacket on Butterick # 5151 and modified it with raglan-style sleeves. I drafted my own pattern for the shoulder patches, which are suede cloth with airbushed detailing. The jacket collar is lined with grey satin, but otherwise I just finished the edges and left things unlined. The sleeve patches are custom-made appliqués and the other details are more airbrushing. For the sake of simplicity I omitted the front zipper and Velcro on the collar, but I may go back and add that later. The A-line skirt is made of the same fabric as the jacket, based on McCall's # 8476 with bias tape detailing and added belt loops. There's an invisible zipper in the side to get it on and off. The beret was one I already had, with a custom made resin pin. The cross I cast myself of pewter as part of my university jewelry class. Shoes, blouse, and socks were on hand, and the plaque belt (you can't see) is from Big Lots. The wig was purchased secondhand from a friend, a "Kelly" style orignally from wowwigs.com.
- Personal Thoughts:
- Constructed: January 2004 Time: 15 hours I once said "I want to be Misato when I grow up!" (Why not? She gets Kaji!) Since I'm getting too long in the tooth to be costuming characters whose ages end in the word "teen", she was my last, best hope for an Evangelion costume. ^^; My partner in crime is impersonating Kaji Ryoji. His outfit was entirely store-bought, so there's not much to say about it. Other than he looks hot. ^_~ Oh happy, happy me! He's also a man of rare talents. He was able to borrow a car from the dealership for this shoot!
