About time I wrote how I did this costume. I wanted to make it for a summer photoshoot for summer of 2009, and I rushed through it in about a week and a half. Red on the hood and back cape is velvet, and the bottom front and top is red/black taffeta that I bought from LA fasion district for $3 a yard. Freaking amazing price, man. I knew once I saw the fabric in the store I'd HAVE to make Velvet. Originally I didn't know if I was at the skill level to make the costume because there are so many little important parts, but I challenged myself and did it! The shirt was completely made from scratch from black spandex material, and sleeves were made from red velvet too, and painstakingly box pleated. X_X The hood was drafted as a V shape, and the stars were made from craft foam. Version 1 Velvet had sticker stars! XD the kept falling off.. The headdress is a yard of black lace, with a strip of thin black lace studded with tiny sequins wrapped around. The black lace is tied in the back with a hairclip. XD The blonde wig for Version 1 was my old Namine wig with the bangs shoved back. I bought a new long blonde wavy wig for Version 2 which looks much better. The purple contacts are the Dollyeye violet. My favorite purple lens! The stockings are also from LA fashion district. My dad was driving down the street really slowly due to congested traffic, I saw the stockings in a store, and I jumped out to buy them. X3 The lace garters...Version 1 was black pleated lace trim sewn to black elastic. Version 2 were actual black garters with box pleated ribbon hand sewn on. The shoes are from Payless. Black heels. I fixed up so much of this costume, and there is always constant maintenance to be done when wearing it, but it's so much fun! At ALA 2011, my first ALA I got to cosplay with Bubydub's Gwendolyn, YAY! <3 I upgraded the makeup, had to buy new stockings, make replacement garters and wear different shoes since I left those parts at school in NY X_x but the photos we got back are great! :)
