Construction Details:

First: this entire costume took way too many tries for me to get it done. The only parts that are from my first attempt are the shoes and the shorts. When I first went to make this costume, I wasn't sure how to approach the duster, so I asked my good friend Renzokuken what she had used for a pattern to make hers. She gave me a link with a Rinoa duster pattern, and after some modifications to it (since um...my chest made it a bit difficult to use the measurements haha), I was able to make a Rinoa duster for myself. The wings on the back were stenciled into some cardboard from a screencap I printed out, and painted it on using some old really gross fabric paint I had laying around. The first two dusters I made came out too short, so I had to add more length to it the third time. The skirt was much too large and very awkward, so I ended up making a new one, which is much more comfortable now. The shorts were bought and shortened, and the tank top was originally navy, and dyed black. The socks are from sockdreams, and the shoes are actually my mom's, but she never wore them.

Personal Thoughts:

I really don't like Rinoa, but once I saw my friends Quistis SeeD uniform, and learned our mutual friend already had both Selphie costumes, I couldn't help myself! I knew that we had to do a group cosplay. Unfortunately the plans fell through due to various circumstances, but I decided I wasn't going to let that stop me from ever wearing the costume!

So, I dusted it off, fixed it up, and made my boyfriend (DarkVyse88) a Squall costume (with help from VintageAerith for the jacket, who gave me the fur!), and made the belts for Otakon (full details on his page - I made him copy and paste it, haha).

I also recruited SSPrincess as our Selphie, since she's just a tad shorter than I am (I cut and styled her wig, and made the dress for her). Unfortunately plans fell through again with my original Quistis, but my Sheryl twinnie (Stardust462) volunteered to step up and wear her Quistis uniform with us!

Unfortunately his wig isn't available anymore, but the Reed style is similar enough that it would work for Rinoa as well.
