About this Costume
- Construction Details:
-
It was my first "pompous" dress as well, and I felt like a princess as cheesy as that may sound XD All the motives and designs may seem simple, but they were a pain to make, cut and sew ^^u My mother helped me with everything I didn't know, specially the japanese sleeves that turned out beautifully. Since the reference picture (here: http://yfrog.com/0p1244451138725fj) didn't show the entire dress, I designed the rest of it, getting inspiration for the skirt from a dress that Sakura wears in the latest chapters of the Tsubasa manga :3 (http://yfrog.com/6usakurasj)
- Personal Thoughts:
- When I first heard that CLAMP would be one of the guests of honor at JE, I didn't mind if I had to go to another country... I just HAD to be there. Unfortunately, chances of seeing them were really scarce, but there was an option in the form of a special cosplay contest solely devoted to CLAMP characters and designs, and in which they would be the jury! *__* Our dear friend Jasone came up with the idea of making a big group with different characters from many of their series with the colorful costumes they show in the special illustrations of boxes of the figure sets called "CLAMP in 3-D LAND". My boyfriend and I thought we weren't going to make it, but finally we did. Unfortunately, our skit didn't come out as we planned it due to various circumstances out of our control, and we ended with only 3 people out of 8, but we passed the preselections and we could perform in front of CLAMP... and talk and interact with them after the contest! I'll be forever grateful to this costume and Jasone for that fact, it was a dream come true, and I felt like a winner just because of that *^^*
Wig Details
- Styling Notes
- I bought a pack of extensions at a local store that matched the color of the wig almost perfectly! I sew them to the wig, and then sprayed them with water, twisted each of them, secured them with a little bit of thread of a similar color at the end, sprayed with Got2B and fixed it with my hairdryer at low heat. After that, I curled each of them forming those buns and secured them with pins to the base wig. This time, I also did the antenna bangs correctly with just hairspray and the hairdryer ^^ Even though I had to change to other brand since they don't sell it on Spain anymore, I loved Got2B Hairspray XD
