About this Costume

The illustration gave us the opportunity to choose the design of the dress from the waist below, so we decided to make a long skirt with a classic Greek feeling to it since we felt that was appropriate. But deciphering the sleeves pattern (which are hardly shown in the illustration) was hard. In the end, we made both costumes symmetrical, with an open low sleeve on one side and just a flowing piece of fabric on the other, attached to the wrist jewel. We bought the same kind of satin-like fabric for both of us, in the perfect dark blue (almost black) colour, and I decided to take the liberty to get a pearl tone (I really dislike pure white, don't ask me why ^^u).
The jewels were the most difficult and hellish part, both to design, create, choose materials, join to our body and dress and, of course, wearing them, and I'll be forever grateful to Hermione for making them and coming up with great ideas, and for showing me the wonders of resin casting ^^ They're made of polyester resin on pewter casts, giving them shape and adjusting to the body before the catalyst finished reacting. The result is very pleasing to the eye, but unfortunately, it breaks too easily. We used latex and golden thread (thanks to Shaykow for the idea XD) to put them on, but certainly we will choose other materials to make these decorations if we decide to wear them again in the future, because we could hardly move and they ended up broken in many parts ^^u (polyester resin works great for small and translucid jewels, though :3). - Personal Thoughts:
- The moment my friend Hermione and I saw these costumes, we just fell in love with them. They were elegant, the jewels were a beautiful touch, and it gave us freedom to design the rest of the dress, which is always good. Since my boyfriend and I wanted to make a big TRC/HOLiC group and most members were going to wear deluxe/not-so-well known costumes, Hermione and I decided to make these ones, without being fully aware of the difficulty. Because, believe me, these babies were a PAIN to make x_x

- Styling Notes
- After wearing this wig (my first good one) for quite a few times, the only thing I did was straightening it to fix fibers that were twisted due to use.
