About this Costume
Construction Details:
Gosh! A lot of work for such a simple everyday outfit! Everything made by me except the stockings. The shoe outside souls were sanded down with my dremel and painted red. The shoes were originally brown plaid.I used leather and fabric paint for both the white and red parts of the shoes. The hoodie was a stretch, soft material. I couldn't find any in a light pink color but I did find the bright pink. So, I bought the same fabric in white and dyed it the light pink. I used snaps as closures. The skirt I re-did 2 times to make sure it looked as good as it could. The pink ponytail holders were smooth Styrofoam painted with pink fabric paint & clear nail polish as a sealer. Thin white elastic is attached to them so, I can add them to the wig. The wig was a new experience.I couldn't find any wigs long enough to make it accurate to Rin's ridiculously long hair.I decided just to make it with 2 wigs.I ordered the Melissa short wig from cosworx & the godiva XL. I cut the godiva in half and sewn in alligator clips so, I could clip the pigtails onto the short wig. Also wore contacts to give that big doe-eye look because the character is 8 years old. The randoseru school bag was made from red patten leather. Made it for $30. Sure beats buying one for $150 used! Man, did it suck trying to sew that vinyl in a machine!! I defiantly needed an industrial machine to sew that!! At least the bag is functional so I can carry stuff in it. ^__^
Personal Thoughts:
My friend Spam got me into this show last summer.I've watched everything they have out and read all that has been translated for the manga.Enjoyable characters in surprising situations. The show is really different because of it being the perspective of 3, 3rd grade girls. All of them being characters I would also cosplay someday!
