About this Costume
- Construction Details:
-
Phew! Another tough, tough costume! I think this costume has taken the most time to date.
The chest and shoulder armor are fiberglassed and then painted. Craft foam was used for the gold parts on the shoulders so I can be more comfy. It is held together with snaps and elastic. The cape has a slot in the back where it feed through and is velcrowed on. The dress was a modified coat pattern; casa satin, velvet and vinyl was used. Gloves were made from vinyl. Head piece was mostly made with ABS plastic and the red horn was scuplted and then re-casted in plastic. The hand thing (which broke before this image) is made of craft foam, along with my knee armor. The gem on the front is resin and plastic. All gems were casted myself in resin. Boots were purchased from e-bay. Wig is from Cosworx and is a Scruffy and 24" extention in Dark Pin (such a lovely color!) - Personal Thoughts:
- Depite thinking I wasn't going to finish this costume in time I really, really love the final result. There were many moments where I thought for sure that I was going to have to go plan B! In the end I'm glad I made it out the materials I did because everything is SO DURABLE. I don't have to worry about my armor getting ruined if I get glompes.
I have always wanted to cosplay Hikaru and I felt real lucky to cosplay with my amazing friends in their amazing costumes.
