About this Costume
- Construction Details:

I intended to make the whole thing out of pink crepe casa satin, but the day I went to Joann’s with my coupon in hand, they only enough for the top, and nowhere near enough for the huge skirt. So I bought the couple yards they had, and went onto my favorite fabric store, Lorraine’s Fabrics in Pawtucket, Rhode Island. In their bargain loft, where everything is $1.99/yard, I found a huge bolt of the perfect pink fabric with almost the perfect drape (it’s a touch too heavy for what I really wanted, but definitely suitable). I bought 8 yards of it and ended up saving a ton of money. So the more expensive casa satin became the lining.
I modified a pattern for the top (forget which one) and used a big costume skirt pattern for the skirt (also forget which one). For the skirt I’ve seen some people do a different pink for the pleating in the front and back, but the reference pictures aren’t consistent. I decided to keep everything the same color, and added in the pleating between the front and back seams. Underneath I’m wearing a petticoat from angelsbride on eBay: extra full a-line bridal crinoline petticoat skirt slip.
The buttons are covered with the same fabric as the trim, which was purchased bias tape, and are just sewn on the front; the jacket opens with snaps. The epaulets and crown are from craft foam and the shoulder balls are styrofoam with embroidery thread for the tassels. - Personal Thoughts:
- When I was Milfeulle, a lot of people thought I was Utena. So I decided to cosplay from Utena.
