About this Costume
- Construction Details:
-
This costume was a dream costume to make because I absolutely love Petshop of Horrors and the Medusa's tale was always one of my favorites. The dress is made our of Casa satin and lined with cotton. The tail is made of spandex, with an interfaced panel on the bottom so it's no completely round and it drags like a real snakes would. The tail is also a walking tail, meaning it is a dress/skirt to my knees and then flares to the side to form the tail. There are roughly 8,000-9,000 glass pearls covering this costume and about 100 resin jewels (so it's REALLY HEAVY).

- Styling Notes
- I used hot water to straighten the pigtails, and then I combed them out and let them drip dry. When everything was dry I pulled the hairties out and lowered the pigtails to about ear level. 2 packs of extensions in the same color were added on each side directly in front of the pigtails. I then used plastic rollers to roll each of the pigtails up, at which point I cutout each of the hairties, and the rolls were pinned and hairsprayed to within an inch of their lives. The strings of pearls were sewn in once I was sure that the wig was stable.
