Construction Details:

I made it in 10 solid days of non-stop work... o.o I was really sick with a cold and basically sat in bed and handstitched all that trim and the endless yards of seams on the fabric.

Personal Thoughts:

Not only was it a challenge (it's 2 1/2 dresses in one!) but it's the first 'period' style dress that I've ever made. I was most pleased with how it turned out! The most difficult part I would say was the bodice on the purple dress, because it was two layers. The bottom layer was boned and stiff and the top layer had to stretch over that, but I didn't want to be wearing THREE layers (there's still the white dress underneath everything) so I figured out a way to make the back of the bodice only one piece and the front two pieces with the under bodice attached at the shoulder and side seams. O.O it was quite a project! But it paid off, it could have been much more uncomfortable and hot than it actually ended up being. (though- it was plenty restricting... XD I can't breathe!!)
