The latest Japanese volume (vol. 6) of the PSOH sequel included a Halloween scene and a vampire costume for D. It looked cool and fit the Costume Con 27 theme of "Vampires, Villains, and Vixens" so I decided to make it. :-D
The cape is red taffeta and fully lined. The jagged edges and holes were all satin stitched to prevent fraying. It also has black feathers in the collar but they tend to blend into my wig.
The black robe is made of cotton velvet with more of the taffeta for the cuffs. I made straps out of the velvet for the sides with buckles and triangular chandelier earring pieces sewn on by hand. There are 8 pairs on each side but only half of them are actually buckled while the rest hang loose. The underdress is a red-on-red brocade with a very subtle Chinese pattern.

The vampire costume was fun to wear since it was different than the costumes I typically make. Considering how my tastes normally run, I never really expected to make a cape full of holes and a dress with so many buckles. o_O Having fangs was fun too although I ended up not wearing them for long since they were a bit loose and I couldn't get them to work well for pics.
I might remake the black robe after the summer when things are less hectic because I'm really not satisfied with my construction on it. It came out too tight in the shoulders and I had to cut open the back to add a zipper. ._.; The cape hides it but I feel it falls very short of my usual standards.
