Mahou Tsukai Tai was my favorite show when I was 16, so when Seeking Elegance asked Corey and I to be in her group, I was really excited. Aburatsubo was always my favorite character from the show and red hair looks good on me, so why not?! I did have a friend in art school call me him once. He's such a flirt, but can turn on the poker face when there is time to act quick. He's a good character for me to relate to and I enjoy cosplaying him. The truth is though, I had some competition in my own heart to live up to. I wanted to make my costume as well as the others in the group and up to my love of my friend Vartan's costume (Who made such an awesome Abura years ago) Simple looking costume yes, not so much in making it.It's one of those times where everything goes wrong and you end up remaking everything a couple of times to get it right, with very little time before the con. First time satan stitching with the circle and star on the cape thing. My machine hated that. I tried matching some of the black accessories with the vinyl boots, but also had to keep everything to what the group was using for materials. Finding it all was a lot more hard then usual. For what all the frustration caused, at least I am happy with the end product. And someday we may get photos all together in a MTT group! That would be the ideal goal. Wamds made by Seeking Elegant's uncle and photos taken in Salem, Mass ( home of the witches)
- Personal Thoughts:
- I have always been a huge fan of the show, mainly the 6 episode OAV. I can't believe it took this many years to cosplay from it!! Mahou Tsukai Tai or as it's known as in the US : Magic User's club is a heartwarming, fun comedy. It has enough fanservice for the guys, but some cutesy or emotional moments to feed your shoujou fan. Such a great show, I never get sick of watching it! Beautifully animated, you can't forget about this late 90's gem!!
