About this Costume
Construction Details:
This costume's kind of not what I initially wanted it to look like. I spent about two and half years searching for orange sari fabric -- as well as enlisting the help of various friends in my quest -- and eventually found one that worked close enough on eBay. Unfortunately, I had wanted to make this dress for Dragon*Con 2007 and the fabric had to be shipped from New Delhi and so it arrived a few days before to the con and I really didn't have time to bother with making it by that time. So when the NC Renn Faire came around I ended up dragging out my sari fabric and a Waterhouse inspired dress pattern and threw this together in a night. It's not canon accurate to the dress I was wanting to make but I found out quickly that the sari wasn't wide enough to make the design. So this is more inspired by something Sibylla would have worn following the period design and similar fabrics. I figure in the future I'll just spend outrageous amounts of money on fabric for her riding outfit. I am going to completely freak out in the Istanbul fabric district when I take my trip there sometime next year.
