About this Costume
Construction Details:
I originally made this costume in 2008 by sewing ivy leaves onto a leotard in a long, boring, and only somewhat successful process. I also made gloves and boot covers and sewed leaves onto those as well.

When I finally decided to remake this costume in 2013, I chose a different tactic. Instead of a leotard as a base, I used a steel boned corset and glued each individual leaf onto it using gem glue, which was much easier to wear and to take on and off, made for a cleaner silhouette and prevented the "shedding" of leaves which occurred with the old costume. For the bottom half I made green booty shorts and glued/sewed leaves onto those as well. Since the corset overlaps the shorts by a large margin, the transition isn't readily apparent and the two never separated while I was wearing it.

Instead of boot covers, I actually destroyed a pair of old boots this go-around, choosing a pointy-toed boot and cutting the shape of it out before gluing leaves onto these as well. The two things I reused were the tights and the gloves, and I took the old necklace and added leaves to that as well so it would stand out better. I also added rhinestone accents to the tights and added some on my face for a unique touch. One new wig later and Poison Ivy 2.0 was ready to go!
Personal Thoughts:
The Dark Night's deadly seductress who loves leaves more than people? As an environmentalist and Batman fan, this costume was the perfect choice for me.
