One of the first Anime that I ever fell in love with was Escaflowne and Dilandau has been my dream costume since I first started Cosplaying in 2001. I felt like making a nostalgia costume in '08 and since I'm not skilled enough to make Dilandau yet and I've been Cosplaying a lot of female characters lately, I figured that it would be fun to Cosplay Hitomi. I've always liked her outfit from the series. It took a lot of time and effort to make this costume. Making a fitted jacket is a really hard thing to do and my own jacket, which was made from a combination of several different patterns, didn't work out quite how I had hoped. Please ignore the fact that my jacket looks quite white in photos. I had trouble finding a nice yellowish beige fabric so I opted for an off-white. Of course in flash photos in a dark setting it therefore looks very white. XD The skirt was problematic because making the pleats even was really difficult. My mom had to help me straighten a lot of it out. XD I'm sort of happy with the bow but I kept making it too big and I had to keep reducing the size. (^^);; I'm really pleased with the wig though. It was fun hairspraying the antenna and Pan cut the bangs and sprayed my hair down to save it from the wind at Anime North. The rest of the costume (shoes, socks and white shirt) was store bought. I also bought my pendent on eBay, which worked out, since I like wearing pretty necklaces. I love my tarot cards. They were a promo set for the series that I got way back in either 2001 or 2002. I'm glad they finally came in handy. XD
- Personal Thoughts:
- I'm really happy that I made this costume. I intended to do it for fun by myself but I randomly managed to convince Pan to be my Van and it was a huge surprise at AN when our friend Crimson showed up at our respective hotel rooms dressed as Allen. Her costume was amazing! We're all looking forward to fixing up our costumes and finishing props to do a proper shoot before Allen runs off to teach in Japan later in the summer. :3 I love our group! <3
