About this Costume
Construction Details:
All I can say is sewing with velvet and lining with baby silk is a pain in my bootay! Most of this costume is made by altering patterns or making up my own! There are three layers to the skirting alone - the petticoat, an underskirt, then the actual velvet skirt. The top is corseted in the back and the apron has hand-sewn lace all over it. The wig was used for my school uniform but I went and restyled the entire thing! My darling Cassie went and made the pettipants for me since I didn't have the time to do it. This was a crazy project and there are still a few things I will alter in the future.
Personal Thoughts:
OMG! Words cannot express how much I love this costume! Not so much the costume as the experiences that came with it. Breathlessaire and I deliberated for two hours on CCS costumes for Tekkoshocon. We knew we wanted to do Sakura and Tomoyo and next thing you knew, we recruited our buddies Starlighthoneymoon and dreamlandtea for our CLAMP does Wonderland skit. I am so proud of our group since we worked on everything until about 6am the day of the competition with me doing minor details on my costume until about noon the same day. We all helped each other out with various details and I did the makeup jobs/wig styling for everyone. =D There are still a few things I want to add and fix up on this costume but I am still so proud of it. Everything is lined -- lining velvet with baby silk is not an easy thing to do! I love my girls and our hard work paid off at Tekkoshocon with Best of Show and Best in Master Craftsmanship awards!
