1/15/2010: worn for MaGFest 8/11/2010: Seeing as I'd never posted any explanation for this costume, I may as well now! :D This costume was actually originally made and debuted back at Otakon 2007 after being inspired by various other versions online, and of course, by Yoshitaka Amano's art itself. This was also when my sewing skills consisted of improvising and threading a machine...mostly... O_o ...Anyways, considering how little I knew at the time, I was really pleased with how this costume turned out, though when I went to unearth it from my closet this past winter for MaGFest, my first thoughts when I looked at it were something along the lines of "Holy crap! I had NO CLUE what I was doing, did I?!?!" ...Yep! I was completely clueless! Buuut thankfully, most of my major scary areas (in terms of construction) were already reasonably well-hidden, and with some quick alterations to bring the costume in so it would still fit, I was able to wear it again! :D But now, Amano Aerith shall at last be retired! She was a fun costume while she lasted, but I think it's time to turn in the towel...especially considering this costume reduces the range of motions in my arms to about NOTHING!!! (Seriously, I can't even reach the steering wheel properly to drive if I'm wearing the sleeves!) O_o Still, it was fun! :)
