About this Costume

Since I had so much fun Cosplaying Heather, I really wanted to make more Silent Hill costumes. Ohayocon was quickly approaching and I was on winter vacation from university so I felt like making something new. I had played Silent Hill Origins when it was released and I loved the game. When I was checking for potential Cosplay ideas I noticed pictures of Origins Alessa online and that she has a similar hairstyle to my own. I realized I had a white shirt that was perfect for this costume that my friend Pam had made me for my Ruka costume and I already had mary jane shoes, white socks and a red tie. I just had to make her schoolgirl dress which was somewhat challenging. Thankfully I found a pattern for a plain dress and I modified the collar and added a waistband. The dress turned out very nicely and I was lucky enough to find really pretty fabric for it on clearance at the local fabric store. :D It did seem that some higher power didn’t want me to make this costume though. I managed to mess up on the sleeves and I accidentally cut into the back and ruined a zipper. When I initially cut out all the pieces I needed from the fabric I had a ton of excess left over but thanks to all my mess-ups I pretty much used up every inch of material. XD Despite that, I really love how this costume turned out.
- Personal Thoughts:
- It was blast Cosplaying from Silent Hill again. I never would have thought to Cosplay Alessa but I really liked her appearance in Origins. This was a very spur of the moment costume idea but I'm glad I actually acted on the urge and made this costume. I'm looking forward to wearing this outfit again and maybe I can convince some friends to Cosplay Travis or the Butcher (which would rock). :3 I'll have to enjoy Cosplaying Alessa while I can because I'm hoping to cut my hair short again during the year. It was a pain (and took a lot of help from Pan) to style my hair just right for Alessa. I also had to use a chest binder to attempt to pull off looking like I was 7, but overall this was a great costume choice for me.
