Metal exorcist brooch and black thigh high boots bought on ebay, and the D. Gray-man silver buttons were special ordered from a cosplay store in Japan =) The rest of the costume was handmade, with lots of pinpricks and blood and sweat and cursing. :3 I don't like seeing stitches on the white and black stripes part so I had to painfully handsew/invisible stitch all the stripey parts on. I also didn't know about bias tape at the time so I ended up making all of it from scratch......(I think I spent over 60 hrs/about two months straight working on this, lol) Erm, Hoshino is rather inconsistent with her character designs so I had to flip through about 100 pages of Rinali before I finally settled on the final design. There are 13 buttons total on the costume, 6 custom ordered and imported six-"petaled" silver buttons (2 on shoulder, 1 on neck, 1 on chest, 2 on waist) and 7 white "minus sign" buttons (1 on back, 2 on shoulder pads, 2 each per sleeve cuff) which were made out of craftfoam. The pleated part of her skirt was also custom made in order for the fabric to match with the rest of the costume. I don't really like the look of black thigh-high socks + shoes, so I made sure to go with actual thigh high boots for this costume :< (gah, was expensive) I'm also really happy with all the small details I was able to include that most Rinali cosplayers don't see to bother with: Her small round black stud earrings, and purple contacts *w* Even though I've done a lot of D.Gray cosplay, this one is my first and still my favorite one @3@ I spent more time on this costume than any of my other cosplays, so it's still the one I'm most proud of in terms of accuracy, durability....etc. Running around getting to bonk Kanda cosplayers over the head with a clipboard was also a plus.
- Personal Thoughts:
- Why must Rinali have so many outfits LOL. I barely finished making her first uniform and now she already has a gazillion others ;;; Anyway, this costume took me a LONG time but I think I really learned a lot from making it. I plan on making all of Rinali's outfits eventually :3 so I have my work cut out for me! XD
