Amalthea is the lovely heroine from The Last Unicorn, a movie and novel by Peter S. Beagle. Her tale is a sad one, for she was a single unicorn, living alone until one day her world was disrupted and she was turned into a human! Able to experience love, hope, and regret for the first time, Amalthea has a hard time wishing to change back to her former self, even when the chance of finding more of her kind comes up. :( Overall, this was a very comfortable and casual costume to wear. The 'buttons' at the front are casted out of resin with sparkly mica flakes inside for ..sparkle. The best part of this costume was the fact that I had no idea author / screenwriter Peter S. Beagle was going to be at A-kon. In fact, it wasn't until late Saturday at the convention when I found out, so on Sunday I just had to wear Amalthea and see him. I got his autograph and one of the limited edition prints of concept artwork that was exclusively released a few months ago and only available so far at A-kon. ^^
