Construction Details:

Snape is my favorite Harry Potter character, but I'm pretty sure I would make a terrible Snape. I thought cosplaying a Neville's Boggart version of Snape would be the perfect compromise! I really love the way this costume turned out and I have a lot of fun wearing it. The suit is green crushed velvet. I used a Vogue pattern but I don't remember the number. The skirt came together easily, but I had some trouble getting the lining to cooperate on the top part. I made the purse with some red linen and gold ribbon, and I made the fox stole with a McCalls neck pillow pattern and some fur fabric. The vulture hat was the hardest part. I had never made a hat before and it was a very confusing experience. It ended up a too small and pretty shoddy, but that's all right. The vulture was really hard too...I sculpted styrofoam into the proper shape (adding wings and head on with smaller styrofoam parts) and covered it with feathers. That doesn't sound hard, but it was, lol. The hat is too heavy in general and is hard to keep balanced. The wig was really easy and fun...I just chopped up a shoulder length wig that I had into Snape hair. SNAAAAAAPE
