Construction Details:

I knew I was going to end up making a sailor fuku eventually but I could never quite decide between Jupiter and Chibimoon. I knew I was too big and too old to do Chibimoon justice but the temptation of styling the wig was too overwhelming so I caved. I must say, for such a simple-looking costume this thing gave me a lot of grief. I ended up remaking EVERY aspect of the costume at least three times. It was my first time constructing a costume that had to fit perfectly without a zipper so I had a lot of fitting issues. I used an absolutely wonderful Kwik sew ice skating pattern and still managed to mess it up! The only thing I did to modify the pattern was add length and width to the skirt which still made it exceedingly short but gave it more volume than it would have had otherwise. I got the pattern pieces for the bows and sailor collar from Lynleigh.com and it made my life so much easier. The wig was an adventure - I'll leave it at that.
