About this Costume

This costume took quite a while to finish (and I can still see some aspects of this costume that I would like to improve if I ever wear it again). I had no intention of Cosplaying from Eureka Seven initially because it wasn't a series I got around to watching. My friend Pam planned to make a Renton costume for Anime North '07 and she wanted me to Cosplay with her. Around this time I was still worrying about finals in university and my other costumes so I declined. She randomly messaged me that she had started making me the dress so I would Cosplay with her. XD A couple of weeks before con she sent me what she had finished of the dress plus extra material, buttons and what not for me to finish it. It actually turned out to be a lot of work. The dress she sent me didn't fit me properly and the sleeves and the length had to be adjusted. It was wonderfully done though. I never would have been able to pull off some of the aspects of the blues in the dress without her. I did the accessory work myself. I made the straps, sewed on the silver "clasps", made the boot "covers" (which was felt white glued to the boots so I can reuse them for other costumes), the hair clips (which I failed at making well), the patch, the necklace (huzzah for plastic tubes) and I made the pouch. It was a lot of work to put this costume together. I also must thank Pan for the wig. I was having issues buying one so Pan lent me her Husky wig and the colour worked really well for this costume. :3
- Personal Thoughts:
- This was a very challenging costume to make and wear. I like how it turned out but I had issues with a lot of it. I rarely Cosplay girls (especially girls in dresses) so getting used to the lack of pants was interesting. XD My clips sucked. I broke the one I made that was more accurate for her large rectangle one before AN and I never had the time to remake it. I just painted a clip gold for CNAnime and it didn't work as well. I also had trouble getting the clips to actually catch the wig hair so the clips look sort of off in photos. Another aspect of the costume that I didn't like was wearing my white Gogo boots. I love how the boots look but if I wear them for more than a couple of hours my feet hurt like heck. (>.<);; That alone seriously makes me never want to wear this costume again. XD It was fun to Cosplay Eureka, though. I love the photos Kevin took of this outfit and if my friend Pam ever finishes her Renton costume, I'll most likely try to wear Eureka again one more time for photos with her. :3
