About this Costume
Construction Details:
Cost: $75.00 Debut: Star Wars Celebration IV I spent maybe a total of $50 actual dollars on materials. Kurt and I won a group cosplay contest for our Dark Elves at a spring cosplay picnic. Our award was two gift cards worth $30 for Joanns and Michaels, they came in handy and we got materials for Visas and Nihilus. So you know I am a thrifty cosplayer/costumer, we go out of our way for the best deals and end up getting things for like $1.50 a yard. I worked on Visas for a grand total of 6 months, off and on. When I started this costume I realized that this was probably the most difficult costume that I have ever done. I had never even realized the intricate “pin-wheel” pattern on her leather tunic. The pattern is standard for the 501st and would not be accepted without it. Visas is the “nun” of the universe. Her under and over dress are both fashioned in a very nun-like way, with the veil included. The veil is made out of a material that I can see through, I don’t know how many times I get asked, but yes… I can see. I had to redo/repaint the whole top half of the tunic. Making the thing seamless was almost if not completely impossible. In all the costume was redone about 3 times before it was 501st accepted. I made it seamed so I could make it more form fitting, though covered, Visas is a very sexy character due to the mystique of her entirety. Extra: 501st Legion - Southern California Garrison - Flagship Eclipse Detachment - SL:1613
Personal Thoughts:
When I first saw Visas Marr, I felt she was very much like myself at one time. I used to be and feel the way she is and I feel that, that will be part of me forever. I never dreamed I would create a costume of her. My friend, Cujo (TX 1332) had pushed me to join the 501st legion. I have always had a great passion for Star Wars and had to think on what character I wanted to do. Visas Marr was a recently approved expanded universe character for the 501st Legion and so I chose her. I am in the 501st Legion, Southern California Garrison under the designation SL-1613 with this costume.
