Waaaaaay back in the day, when I was in middle school I would watch Ranma 1/2 every single day when I came home from school on one of the local TV channels, I loved it then, and I love it just as much now. I grew out a little rat-tail a few years before I started watching Ranma, and when my friends and I saw that Ranma had a rat-tail like mine I was labeled as the Ranma of my group, even if Ranma is really a guy, (I was also a huge tomboy though, so it worked)... years and years and years have passed since then and the moment came when I realized I should cosplay Ranma, and just like that, I did it... I hope I do Rumiko Takahashi's work justice ^_^
