About this Costume
Construction Details:
The keyblade for Dexter was made from piece of corrugated plastic as its core then had foam wrapped around it. Foil tape was used to make Dexters iconic wrench, with the red and black duct tape to make the handle. The pants were old slacks I used to wear, that I modified using tape, hot glue and tie downs from home depot, to look somewhat like KH3 Sora's pants but different. The utility packs on the belts were made by me from cardboard and vinyl, then painted on by my friend Cassie. Her keyblade for Mary was constructed similar to mine, except without foam wrapped around the core, hers is more flat and has her trademark moon symbol at the end of it. The wigs for both are from ebay. The clothes for Mary Test, Cass already owned. The characters fingerless gloves were ordered from ebay. Blue for Dex, Red for Mary. The choker for Mary was made a piece spare piece of fabric from an old beat up sweater that was utilized for other costumes.
Personal Thoughts:
After I first cosplayed Dexter in 2014, I wanted to cosplay him again at some point. Around 2017, a friend and I came up with an idea to do a Kingdom Hearts inspired version of the character. At the same she was going to do a KH version of Mary Test from Johnny Test. Given both characters similarities from both shows it seemed fitting at the time. It was a blast for us to work on these costumes together.

nSide note: We even got to meet the legendary IvyDoomKitty at Connecticut ComiCONN 2017 while wearing these.
