About this Costume
- Construction Details:
-
The materials I used were core foam boards, some cardboard, some bits of craft foam, craft mirrors for the cameras, and pipes for the beam sabers.
To reinforce the foam boards, I paper-mache them to make it stronger and made it look like its one whole piece.
I attached the V-fin with magnets and a dowel through it to pin them down more.
Cheapo sunglasses were bent and used for the eyes.
Custom decals for the shoulders and were made at my graphics class.
Took me about a year to replicate the prototype to a newer version.
All are hand-painted with craft acrylic and then shaded with black paint, and scratch built without any templates. All parts were eyeballed from a model kit. - Personal Thoughts:
- Wore this costume for 3 days. This costume was an experiment on how stilts and other materials can be used to incorporate lightweight-ness and be large at the same time, after making a prototype out of corrugated plastic. Overall, this was fun, and photographers kept on stopping me at almost every 10 steps. Entered into a costume contest, and I lost to a kid.
