Construction Details:

I rated this as hard because everything about this costume was a first for me. So I was learning how to use these new materials at the same time as making the costume. Some new materials I was using were worbla, mold putty, resin, expanding foam, leather, and fur fabric. As for new techniques, I painted...(Read More) and weathered armor as well as tested out how to proportion an garmet to a larger scale. Overall I think that this was a successful first attempt at many new products and methods.

nI did not properly time myself but in the time it took me to make this; I was able to watch 8 season of Faceoff, all of the Underworld movies, and the entire Lord of the Rings trilogy.

Personal Thoughts:

I am obsessed with How to Train your Dragon and as soon as I saw the official art for the second movie I knew I wanted to cosplay Astrid. This has been a surprisingly fun costume to parade around in (I find myself wearing the arm gloves and the hood sometimes at home).

Styling Notes

To make this wig I first made the separate braid knot out of extensions and then sewed them in to the wig top. Then I braided the main braid following the official art.

Wig Review

I loved this wig so much! It was just thick enough for a good viking braid while still maintaining the light cartoon look. The color was beautiful and it will be my go to from now on for all natural blonde wigs.
