About this Costume
Construction Details:
All the white is white stretch sateen, the trim on the vest is a red violet taffeta, the dark purple is heavyweight satin (using the wrong side), and the gold is metallic spandex.

The applique is all interfaced spandex, stuck on with 505 Basting Spray and topstitched in place. Any patterns used were heavily modified (especially the shirt). Everything is lined in matching fabrics.

The calf plate, boot armor, and gem settings are all made from worbla, while the rest of the armor is wonderflex. It all fastens in different ways. The "sandwich" method was used, save for the boot armor and belt, which were only one layer of their respective thermoplastics. The shoulder pad is made of unfinished wonderflex with a cardboard and 6mm craft foam core.

All gems are cast from epoxy resin and dyed with transparent resin dyes (including the painted ones). The studs are all furniture tacks, painted or not. The feathers were all originally white and dyed using Dharma Trading Acid Dye in Electric Violet.

Boots were originally knee high and cut down to ankle height, then covered in satin.
Personal Thoughts:
This is a costume that has been a dream since I first saw it in 2010. This is easily the most difficult costume I've ever made and it was the first time I've ever made armor.
Wig Details
Wig Brand
Arda Wigs
Wig Name
Eowyn
Original Color:
115 Pale Blonde
Styling Time
1 hour
Wig Quality Rating
4 / 5.00
Styling Notes
Really simple cut. Trimmed the bangs and cut it into a simple layered style, while changing the perimeter to taper from short to long. I really need to thin the wig out. There is just TOO much hair in the wig.
Wig Review
It's a great, thick wig, but it tangles easily and was just too thick. Both are easily fixed.
