About this Costume
- Construction Details:
-
This costume was sewn entirely by me. The jacket and gaiters are made mainly from a twill that I sent through the washer and dryer like 20 times. It was too stiff at first so I broke it down over the course of a few months until I was ready to actually finish the costume. I made the patterns entirely from scratch. the jacket is fully lined with the off-white cotton lawn that you see on the collar. The closure is just a few snaps. The brown tabs are mostly decorative. The gaiters have a zipper up the inseam so that getting them on isn't a ten minute wiggle-fest. The knickers and the belt are just a t-shirt knit with elastic waist and knee bands and there are inseam pockets in the sides. I definitely should have made the pants out of a woven material cause they were sagging from my phone and wallet in my pocket the whole time. The shoes are martial arts shoes. The gloves were sewn out of a thick poly knit that reminded me of neoprene (but it definitely wasn't). The scarf was just cut from a scrap of knit.
- Personal Thoughts:
- I hate Mako, but I love him. Its all so confusing. That's how I felt while making this costume. It is so comfortable that it shouldn't count as cosplay.
