About this Costume
- Construction Details:
-
Used two types of suede cloth for the top. The boot covers just slide onto the boots and are not held by any adhesive. They are simply tight enough that tension keeps them mostly in place. Lots and lots of leather that was hand cut, sewn, dyed, and detailed in order to actually make things functional. I'm glad that I have a small phone holder on the belt, and the sporran inspired bag can hold my wallet and camera.
Boomerang was made of two thin planks of wood that were glued together and angle sanded for a tapered look. The club design was a combination of clubs Sokka had along with some inspiration drawn from the other weapons of the Southern Water Tribe from the Avatar artbook. The ball is just a covered styrofoam ball and adhered to the cut piece of wood. The NOT SPACE sword was repurposed from another cosplay sword I had. The blade itself is removeable, so I only had to commission a new handle. I did not make the sword, just the boomerang and club.
And yes, that is my actual hair. - Personal Thoughts:
- Sokka is my favorite Avatar character, and being an older cosplayer, I loved the image of Team Avatar Old Friends poster that was given away at Comic Con last year. So much that I finally was inspired to make my first Avatar cosplay.
(Some day Water Tribe wolf armor...some day)
