About this Costume
Construction Details:
I drafted all my patterns from scratch myself. I also used actual kimono silk for the shell of my outer piece, which doesn't show up much in photos but looks wonderful in person. The pattern on it is a very small flower and stream design but because of how wide spread it is it almost looks like the falling snow design. Which I thought was appropriate considering the time in the series this is from.

I love how all the clothing in the series is a fusion of traditional Japanese clothing with some style lines incorporated from various places to make it look more futuristic while still being somewhat practical.

My collar doesn't have a collar seam. It's all part of the main pieces. I'm rather proud of that. It's the first time I've done that particular type of collar and wasn't sure if it would work with the kimono silk but it turned out great and stayed standing and in shape without me having to install a collar guard.

There is a lot of slip stitching and hand finishing in general on this outfit. The entire thing is lined. There are also around 40 button holes for the ribbon to pass through.

Planned changes for AX: I'm lengthening the front pieces, adding a lot of snaps for piece of mind (even though it fits so that it doesn't shift around), making shoe pants (currently the pants and shoes were purchased and unedited), and redoing my mask.
Personal Thoughts:
This costume was a lot more comfortable to wear than I thought it would be. I'm not quite happy with a lot of elements though and am remaking bits of it for another photoshoot I'm doing at Anime Expo with other characters from the series.

I will be washing it out and restyling it though for AX because I want it to be more stylized than it is now.
