About this Costume

Started with a Vogue pattern and then altered it for sanity in matching plaids, merging it down into 5 pieces from 9, and shortened it by about 4 inches and used it for all 3 jackets. Plaid was some kind of fabulous fabric from mood that was a *&^%( to sew because it was actually two layers of fabric basted together, wonderfully soft and drapey but aggravating to deal with, especially when trying to press and give it structure. Fully lined, we all chose to line our jackets with ridiculous fabric and mine was no exception with brightly colored polkadots....I felt it was in theme with everything else ridiculous with his costume and the wardrobe in general.
Tried to dye a green shirt 3 different times with different dyes and techniques, failing (once somewhat spectacularly) every time, finally bought a "close enough" shirt as I was running out of time. Hand painted polkadots onto a blue bowtie.
Green shoes were originally beige and then painted with Popsicle Green Angelus Neon leather paint. I can't recommend that brand enough for shoes and leather. It worked decently well on the suede-like parts of the shoe which is pretty remarkable for paint. - Personal Thoughts:
- Who knew matching plaid was so annoying and time-consuming? Not me! At least not to this extent. Still, I like how it came out, though despite being made like a typical suit, I don't think I'll have much opportunity to wear it out. Or at least, places to wear it to.
Also, it really sucked having to wear a total of 5 1/2 layers including a hoodie for the whole time until the very end of the skit. I'm glad we did this skit during the winter and not the summer though.

- Styling Notes
- First time using a human hair wig and I know what the fuss is about, it was nice to style using normal products/techniques and treat it like real hair, and to be able to make small fixes using just my hands and some water. The only real limitation was the usual of being unable to cut it quite short enough, but I think I got it reasonably close after wash/straighten/cut/style from the poofy superkinkmullet it started out as.
