Made the pattern for this and the other breakaway coats after realizing that all the boys have the same general jacket, just in different colors and slight style variations.
Made with some kind of beige cotton-or-mostly-cotton twill that Lauren (Roserevolution) picked up for me. Presses amazingly well but wrinkles equally easily. Most of the seams are bound on the inside with self-made bias tape, in some kind of hybrid between hong kong finishing and flat-felled seams. TOPSTITCHING TOPSTITCHING EVERYWHERE.
T-shirt design I eyeballed and then sketched out an approximation of the design, then inked and traced onto freezer paper, then painted the base yellow and then went over with 3 more shades of yellow for shadow/highlights. It's a false t-shirt though, only the front panel sewn into the jacket for breakaway purposes.
Green shoes were originally beige and then painted with Popsicle Green Angelus Neon leather paint. I can't recommend that brand enough for shoes and leather. It worked decently well on the suede-like parts of the shoe which is pretty remarkable for paint.
Technically the shoes for this costume should have been black with these beige sort of spat-sock-things, but I couldn't think of a good way to make decent looking breakaway shoes, and considering some of the issues we ran into, it's better that way anyway. - Personal Thoughts:
- Made this for the masquerade skit which required making it as a breakaway costume which was in ways both easy and hard. Well, at least...time consuming, to make look decent and be sturdy. Functional pockets and buttonholes, and fully finished on the inside though. I may even try to convert this into a "regular" jacket as I like the style of it. Even the pants are made in a way that they can be converted to normal pants now.

- Styling Notes
- First time using a human hair wig and I know what the fuss is about, it was nice to style using normal products/techniques and treat it like real hair, and to be able to make small fixes using just my hands and some water. The only real limitation was the usual of being unable to cut it quite short enough, but I think I got it reasonably close after wash/straighten/cut/style from the poofy superkinkmullet it started out as.
