Construction Details:

Secret sparkly mission for Anime Expo, start construction on the new Dio design for Last Exile Fam the Silver Wing right after Fanime. Making a Range Murata outfit in that time span is one tough task, and if you're wondering, GONZO was gracious enough to provide me the designs ahead of release schedule so I can make it possible for them. So it's kind of neat being the first cosplayer using the new designs, with GONZO's blessing, which I think have gotten better for Dio. He still has the penguin pants, but his outfit overall is more Japanese styled, with penguin pant hakama, a yukata top and an "obi". Everything is lined, and white sure is a pain to keep clean. Did my own chinese knotting, and had to figure out my own knots for some of them to get them exact with the right overlap. I don't have pockets, but who needs pockets when I have giant sleeves like that. The "geta" alone took a week to make and finish and I'd wish people wouldn't throw gum on the ground cos that really screws up my custom geta for him.

Personal Thoughts:

Dio and I share many attributes, we're both a bit eccentric, playful, spontaneous, and when he needs to, he can massacre his fellow guild members to become the next maestro! *insert malicious laughter*. Ahem. I remember Last Exile when it was first released and was extremely excited to find out that Dio returns in Last Exile -Fam, The Silver Wing- with an updated design. I am deeply honored that I was chosen by GONZO to portray Dio and bring Range Murata's wonderful 2D creations to life. Immelmann tuuuuuuuuuuuurn!
I had to learn Dio's birthday song in English and Japanese since GONZO was a guest of honor for AX.
