About this Costume
Construction Details:
This costume was simultaneously a lot of fun and a pain in the ass to make. I decided to go with a shiny vinyl or something for the coat (there wasn't actually a label on it at the store). It looks great as a garment but takes twice as long to get right compared to other fabrics. I flat lined the vinyl with the muslin I used to test the pattern. It was really helpful in giving the coat enough weight to feel authentic. For the coat I used McCall's M4745 to start and I altered it where necessary. The white trim, the collar thing, and the mustache are just quilting cotton and the black is more vinyl. The patches and design on the sides were glued on. The epaulettes were just hand sewn on in two places. The cape was just a lining fabric that I pleated at the top and sewed right on to the shoulders. The pants were spandex (same fabric from my Leeron costume), have pockets and they are fitted from the calf down. The boot covers are the same vinyl and a bit of white spandex for the toes. They were built over an ankle boot I had for another costume. Finally the headpiece is a Taskboard base (its a really great material, I recommend it, for appropriate applications of course) with paper clay on top. Unfortunately I did the clay too late in the game so it never dried properly but it turned out alright anyway. The gloves were bought, and they suck.
Personal Thoughts:
Capes are the best thing ever! I highly recommend capes as long as the wind picks it up well. I had a blast wearing this costume and being outside!

I only give it a 4/5 because of the yellow fabric since it was my first time working with it and it was an immense pain in my ass. If I were to do something like this again it would probably be a 3/5.

Wig Review
I was happy with this wig but it wasn't super accurate. It was more convenient since I already had it.
