Construction Details:

10 parts crazy and 100 parts last minute by the seat of my pants, as per usual. The bulk of the costume is made out of velvet - the coat, doublet, and pants are all velvet. The rest is primarily different kinds of trim and then other fabric. Cotton fabrics were used for lining, and a decorator's fabric...(Read More) was used for the gold stripes on the pants. (I had to cut out each stripe, it took a while, haha.) The fur collar is from an old coat, carefully stitched onto this one instead. This is my first time ever working with velvet, and honestly probably my last. My sewing machine *hates* the stuff, and it was probably the most stubborn fabric I've ever encountered. I still have a little more work yet to do on this costume, but it's wearable and most of it is done!
