About this Costume
Construction Details:
The costume took about 2 months to complete. The underarmor was made out of high quality 2 way stretch pleather and black suiting. Each strip of brown was individually sewn and welt stitched to a smaller strip of suiting. There are 4 side belts on the sides that are obscured by the armor. There is a zipper in the back of suit to make it easy to get in and out of. The armor is made out of a plastex base. The chest armor is joined in the front by super glue backed by hot glue and sealed with caulking. The coins are cast out of plastic and painted silver, then weathered for age. The shoulders are foam core inside plastex. The curved portions are cut fish bowls. The remainder of the armor is fairly straightforward plastex with varying methods of paint jobs. The beldereaver is a wooden base crazed and then painted black. The silver are wooden rectangles cut to size and glued together. The psypher is clearcast 302.
Personal Thoughts:
The costume built on a lot of things I had considered trying or tried unsuccessfully before. This time however, I fixed issues I'd had in the past and subsequently this became one of my most durable armor pieces. I very much enjoyed sewing the under armor, however as the under armor is heavy pleather underneath black plastic, it doesn't breathe very well, resulting in a noticeable sweat drip from the armor after about two hours. Despite this however, I love this costume and am very much looking forward to applying what I've learned from this project to future projects.
