Alright, so I'm planning on cosplaying as Sephiroth (Kingdom hearts version,) and I'm not sure on exactly how to make the shoulder armor he wears, as well as the one wing. Any suggestions? I have some ideas but would like advice from someone experienced with making this type of costume.

I wouldnt use the one wing unless you have alot of time or you have your heart set on it if you do small sticks:
i used paint mixers for all wings and black cloth

I agree with DantetheBlack partly. I believe that if you don't have enough time, don't wear the wing but for the next time, have it ready. The wing is the most defining feature of Kingdom Hearts Sephiroth and without it, you might as well just go with oridinary Sephiroth (or get ahead of the game and do Advent Children Sephiroth).
However, I wouldn't use sticks and cloth to recreate the great General's one wing. ...that really wouldn't look good. In fact, I imagine it would suck and look very bulky and unrealistic.

This is Sephiroth's one wing done by Nikki from Cygne Noir and her wing is what I would make if I were to make the costume. Now, according to Nikki, she used a wire frame and covered that with black muslim. Glue the black feathers on and then where they fade to a blue color, paint those tips. Attempt to do a fade too as that will be even better and create a better flow of color.
If you want, you can also email her and ask her personally what she did for Sephiroth's armor.

A picture of her Sephiroth costume minus the one wing, which she later created.

I've got the armor started now, but I have a couple questions about fiberglass resin if anyone has any experience working with it. I made the base for the armor out of paper mache, and it looks great but it's way too flimsy, so I bought some fiberglass resin and hardener. (Some of the people I asked at Otakon said that's what they used to make their buster swords and stuff.)
Now, my question is, do I NEED to use the fiberglass sheets or can I just paint the resin on all by itself? I did a test piece yesterday with just the resin and it didn't seem to harden it much, but then I only did one layer. Any advice?
