How would you go about making your own sewing patterns?

For making your own patterns, you can also get clothes that look like the outfit's top and use that as a pattern. Just make sure you leave yourself tons of seam room.

Yea, but as I said, leave yourself room for the seams and don't forget to compensate for space if the clothes are stretchy.

For my Dita jacket, I had to use a weird stetchy black hooded dress thingy but I forgot to add in the extra space and ended up wasting about three yards of uber expensive fabric. Oh well...

*goes back to embroidering her Legolas jacket, knowing she needs to get up for school in two hours.*

you can buy machines that have a progrme that will embroider, but they cost sooooooooooooooooo much! if you do a lot of complicated embroidry then it might be worth it.

Bah! I never wanted to spend that much money on an embroidery machine (even though I do it on most of my costumes) so I just do it by hand. I would suggest buying a machine if you don't have all the time in the world as embroidering is horribly time consuming even if what you're doing is simple!

But believe it or not, I like embroidering and prefer to do it by hand. Gives me a better sense of satisfaction too, knowing that I just spent over 3 months on this one design.

But I think for some of Miyoubi's costumes that the details really are too small to do with a machine....but I've never used one so I really wouldn't know.

A-kon is definitely a two day con! Most of the big names in cosplay go there with totally awesome costumes but they wear them on Saturday, the night of the Masquerade!
