How do people get their costumes?

Hi there, I'm getting started with cosplay and am super curious about how people get their costumes and good websites to check out.
How many cosplays do you currently have and roughly how many were

-self made (from scratch)
-adapted (from base pieces)
-factory made
-custom commissions
-secondhand

Also, what are your favorite websites to get costumes from?
