Sora's hat..

I'm having major trouble with Sora's hat(From Digimon Adventure 01). I'm not sure how to make it, or where to start. Please help or give me tips!

I would use fleece becouse a lot of hats like that tend to be made of that. you can get a cheap beenie and seems split it to make a pattern out of it then add the trim and danglly part.
