Okay, check this out...

i'm going to be Link from Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. The costume itself is okay. Now....

is it possible to style a Halloween Store-bought wig?

I'm asking because recently, my friend got me a blue wig from said Halloween store. But as soon as i tried to brush it, some of the hair fell out.

So....with that experience. I just needed to know if it was possibly to try things like....blow drying, and flat ironing, and trimming on these kind of wigs...cause i don't feel like spending another $15-20 on a wig i won't be able to style.

A real wig in a store here costs a minimum of $175 (ouch) and my mother is paranoid about buying off the internet (identidy theft...). So if you can answer this question, it would save me a lot of trouble and money...

here are some pics (with and without the hat)

You can style a halloween wig but it'll look pretty bad and don't worry about the hair. All wigs lose hair when you comb them, even the high quality ones. Just be extra careful with your wig.

Blow-drying should be fine if it's not held too close, I think... I would be worried about putting too much heat on it, though, since the cheap wigs are usually made of plastic. Trimming could probably be done with a steady hand - cutting is cutting. Just be careful with anything involving heat, I would say.

Well, what makes a wig easy to style with heat is its fiber. All wigs are made from plastic, it's just the quality of plastic that makes a difference. Halloween wigs are made from very crappy plastic because they're only meant for Halloween and not everyday wear, however, the higher the quality, the more they create the effect of real hair.

Blow-drying is an option with a low quality wig but never go to it unless you need it...and I'm serious. Don't go near it unless you absolutely need it. For a Link wig, get something close to it and then cut. Using your hands with a combination of hairspray, should create his bangs and also the other parts of his hair with relative easy.
