I don't know if this will help you any, but sometimes it helps to buy a pattern with a design similar to what you want and alter it.
I might be able to help more if you could specify what anime you're doing.

I don't know if this will help, but on cosplay.com I saw a complete sakura outfit for sale in the classifieds. There may be more stuff to help you there as well.
