Ok, my friend(s) and I have decided upon some sort of Final Fantasy skit for AB 05. my best homie wants to be Shiva, and we've not an idea in our skulls on what to do about the wig and the bodysuit. I know there are ballet sites that have blue body suits, and I know about Katie Bair's tutorial, I just need some more brain candy. Also, ash, help us out a tidbit>!>!>?>

I like the idea of yarn for the hair, as there would very likely be no way to get that many extensions that long. Yarn with something as a core, perhaps hoses or something O_o because her hair has that medusa look to it. Because I am insane, I would probably start making her wig the same way Garry (from cosplaylab) does. By making a skullcap type-thing and then I would affix the hoses/whatever to it, then cover the whole mess with the yarn. Though not in a messy way. And I would affix the whole monstrosity to my head in the manner of a wig, like Katie did, by dyeing her hair blue then attatching the wig and headband.

If you decide to go with a bodysuit, http://www.welovecolors.com/Colors.asp]We Love Colors has lots of colours to choose from. Since you're going to use makeup, (I assume this friend of yours doesn't have naturally blue skin) you should use the makeup sealant like Katie mentions on her tutorial.

Blargh. I can't think of anything else at the moment.

oh wow, thanks. I forgot that bodysuit website XD.

I also forgot about the headband-y thing in the front and how katie dyed her hair. I'll have to just tell my friend to do that. She loves that stuff. the yarn as a base is a good idea. Ill try that once we get going.

..........Yarn as a base for a wig looks terrible. Look for cosplay pictures of it and realize how bad it looks. It you use it as a supporting element in the wig, like to keep the extensions in a contained area, then that's fine but just it replacing actual wig fiber, no!

Besides, the extensions are longer than the Enchantment wigs from Amphigory and reach my thighs by themselves sewn into a wig. I'm 5'4, btw. But since Shiva also has various bands in her hair, it's a snap to create the illusion of the full hair by having extension pieces sewn into the bands.

With combining parts like that, the extensions can easily reach the floor.

I'm sorry. When I read that it gave me the idea that you wanted all of it to be yarn. I'm sorry I misunderstood.

For Katie Bair to make that wig....it would be $1000 not even counting the styling units. It's unaffordable to anyone, really.

You could ask Aimee on c.c too. She did a wonderful Shiva costume. Maybe she could give you some pointers.
